Dec 2024 review
This is a review based on our Dec 2024 experience.
2024 has had one of the wettest Cape Town winters on record. To get rain in summer wasn’t expected.
We had an overcast experience.
3x families. 3X 7 year old boys.
Getting our kids outdoors is important to us.
Stanford is so close to Caoe Town. Roads were quieter than expected.
Couple wine farms in the area add to the entertainment options.
Getting back to Felicita..
Half off grid. Not really advertised as such but that is what we have.
Super bright bulbs on string is very effective. One three prong plug point for charging phones. Thats all the electricity supplied.
Romantic setting, camping under milkwood trees. Really special. Bass and crabs in the little dam. Catch and release terms.
Gas fed hot water for shower and dish washing. Dam water. Untreated. It gets the job done.
His and her bath room (rustic). Converted outdoor shed.
So, we read the complaints. Over priced and great location.
We couldn’t agree more.
This was a spontaneous session. Last minute. More like last resort.
We went in expecting off grid. Which helped.
Had the whole site to ourselves.
When asked the wives, would you camp here again and it was a resounding “yes”.
We are close to Panthera (lion park). Close. Hearing lions roar through the night is magical.
Folks, be warned. The frogs in the dam are loud. Most night long.
So it’s a competition. Baboons (in the distance), lions and frogs.
Close. Convenient. Lekker.
Fun spot
This was a fun little campsite, the kids enjoyed fishing and playing in the lake. The facilities were clean and the caravan was super comfy. There’s a great setup under the milkwoods with fairy lights and braai area. This would be a great campsite to take over with a bunch of friends. An added treat was hearing lions roar at night or during the day – there’s a wild cat sanctuary nearby! You’re not too far from Stanford if you need anything from a store. A trip to see the caves and beach at Gansbaai.
