Campsite Overview
Originally known as Melkhoutskraal, the Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve encompasses 250 hectares of indigenous forest in the Langeberg region, close to Heidelberg. It has only been a reserve since 1986 and was declared a World Heritage Site in 2004. There are several accommodation options in the reserve, but at the campsite you can have a choice of:
Decked camping – for pop-up tents only, each with screens for privacy, lights, electrical and USB points, braai pit and grid, a bench, table and seating with water and scullery.
Campsite A – which accommodates campervans and caravans strategically located near our lovely pool and recreational area, and a play area/jungle gym for kids. Each has a power point, USB port, water point, and braai facility. The campsite also has a play area/jungle gym for supervised entertainment for children.
Glamping – five glamping tents are structured and pitched on decks separate from the main campsite. Each is screened off by a wooden fence divider and is fully furnished for maximum comfort and convenience. There are power points, firepit with grill, flush toilets and a kitchen. Bedding and towels provided.
There is a communal fridge and communal ablution facilities are available with a communal scullery. Eco-logs, charcoal, and fire lighters are sold at reception for your convenience.

Camper Reviews
Lovely campsite
It’s a lovely place to camp – I especially love the decked areas…it gives that privacy. Stunning views with lots to do outdoors.
