Campsite Overview

Kliphuis, situated on the flower route to the Biedouw Valley and Wupperthal, offers an upgraded campsite. Set against the backdrop of the famous Rocklands bouldering site, it is the perfect spot for climbing enthusiasts. It offers to two different types of self-catering accommodation, including off-grid mountain cottages and shaded campsites.

The Kliphuis campsite is located in the northern section of the Cederberg Wilderness, in the Pakhuis Pass, and on the banks of the Kliphuis River. This allows private access to the Kliphuis River swimming hole. Because the river runs through the camping area, it makes the river easily accessible from anywhere in the campsite. This refreshing mountain river is particularly inviting in the hot summer months.

The 14 sites allow up to 6 people and two cars per camp, with both tents and caravans welcome. Facilities include ablutions with hot shower (gas) as well as an outside braai area. No toilet paper is provided but firewood is available on site. Note that Kliphuis does not have electricity power points, WiFi access or an on-site shop and it does not allow pets, music, radios or televisions of any kind.

Klipbuis lies within a Cape Nature conservation area, therefore Cape Nature is in charge of granting permission (via paid permit) to the reserve’s many surrounding outdoor activities, including climbing, hiking and mountain biking.
