Kouga Wilderness Bush Camp

Kouga Wildernis is a family run farm forming part of the Baviaanskloof mega reserve and is nestled in the Kouga mountains about 28km north of the town Joubertina on the R62. It offers self-catering accommodation, camping and a range of adventure activities.

There are 8 general campsites among the giant oaks alongside a stream. Each campsite has a power point, fireplace and easy access to ablution facilities. There is a large communal lapa with freezer, fridge, tables benches and fireplace available to all the campers. The campsite has a swimming pool and offers access to all the hiking trails. The forest bush camp is located in a beautiful natural setting with a stream and a natural stone table where you can eat and prepare meals. Only one group can camp here at a time. The hinged cliff provides good shelter for campers. There is a flush toilet and a shower with hot water just up the mountain. The surrounding views and Roman Soldier Rock are stunning.

Numerous adventure activities are offered including spectacular hiking trails, 4×4 routes, seasonal fruit picking, mountain bike routes and fishing. Swim in natural crystal-clear pools or in the swimming pool or try catching Black Bass in the nearby Kouga River. Explore the mountain streams in search for the rare redwing fish or the very scarce, indigenous Galaxias Zebratus, or identify some of the variety of birds seen on the farm such as the Fish eagle, Knysna- and Vleiloerie.
