Campsite Overview

Situated in the breathtaking Slanghoek Valley, on the Breede River, this site provides 2 self-catering cottages (the Pumphouse is more private) and 10 campsites (separated in 2 different areas). The sites are all on the river, under trees, but there is no grass, so you may want to take along a groundsheet. Each group of campsites has their own private ablution block with hot water and night lighting, so there is no traipsing far distances in the dark. There is a big bin with a black bag for rubbish and a big outside basin to do any dishes in.

There are lots of wine farms in the area, Slanghoek is really forging ahead with quality wine and a drive to visit the picturesque Tulbagh is also a must.

The river is good for swimming and kayaking, but be careful of the rocks.

Camper Reviews

Not for the faint-hearted.

We had a large family gathering with 23 of us staying there. A few small issues but that’s what camping is like. No grass so don’t expect any. But right on the water. One lavatory for each site that were’nt to bad.

The chalet however needs a major revamp, way over-priced and dirty. Wasn’t cleaned, dead bugs everywhere. Door doesn’t lock and could use a fan. Camping was the better option but with a pregnant wife we needed a bed.
